What Is A1 Movers?
Cambridge English: A1 Movers (YLE Movers) is the next step after Starters.
It’s ideal for children who already know some English and are ready to use it more independently in simple conversations, writing, and reading.
What Students Learn
Vocabulary Topics
Children learn to talk about:
- Home, family, and friends
- School, classroom objects, and teachers
- Free time and hobbies
- Food, clothes, and shopping
- Weather and seasons
- Animals, transport, and travel
Grammar Coverage
They develop confidence using:
- Present simple and continuous
- Past simple (regular and common irregular verbs)
- Countable and uncountable nouns
- Prepositions of place and time
- Basic modals (can, must)
- Simple comparisons (bigger, better)
- Coordinating conjunctions (and, but, because)
Skill Development
Reading: Understanding short stories and descriptions.
Writing: Completing sentences, writing short notes and messages.
Listening: Recognising key words and details in short recordings.
Speaking: Talking about pictures, describing people and objects, answering simple questions.
Exam Expectations (Optional)
If taken, the A1 Movers exam includes:
- Listening: Recognising details and simple instructions.
- Reading and Writing: Understanding short texts and writing basic sentences.
- Speaking: Talking about pictures and personal information with the examiner.
Children receive a Cambridge certificate celebrating their progress — there is no pass or fail.
Please note, I do not provide any exams, and only teach the course materials.
Prior Knowledge Needed
Children should be comfortable with basic English words and simple sentences — usually from completing A1 Starters or having beginner-level English experience.
